The maverick THESPIAN MAGAZINE continues to move through its toddler's steps with this sixth issue, offering an eclectic assortment of interesting critical writings, creative compositions, re-creative translations and reviews. The objective of THESPIAN has been to act as an open forum for various kinds of self-expression, primarily of young creative and critical minds. And as will be evident from the present issue, we do not wish to restrict such expressions to the medium of English language alone. Let many flowers bloom, in the season of flowers and after it. We hope to continue to receive your support in this in terms of both contribution and consumption in the future.
Though conceived and delivered primarily by a group of young and enthusiastic academics and theatre-practitioners, as the title of the venture indicates, the magazine by no means limits itself to the confines of theatre-related articles and compositions, as the variety of the subjects taken up by the present issue would amply attest. From folk cultural expressions to urban middle class aesthetic initiatives, from ancient Indian manuals of performing arts to some of the latest theoretical-philosophical trends in the West like Ecocriticism, from an engagement with the problems of translation to actual translation, the issue offers a handful. With your support, we are confident of branching out in new directions in the following numbers of the magazine.
