Finally the wait is over. The ‘Bengali New Year Edition’ of Thespian Magazine is here. We apologize to all our readers for the forced delay of the publication. Equally we are glad to be able to continue it with the similar fashion as before, thanks to the relentless effort of the members.

Though it has more or less followed the previous one in terms of segments, this issue is unique in its own way. The ‘Special Focus’ has strolled into the 19th Century Bengali productions of Shakespeare, whereas the ‘Article’ section has reached the areas of sculpture, language and so on. Mr. Pralayan’s views on contemporary theatre practices in India have been neatly bound into words in the ‘Interview’ section, whereas the ‘Translations’ and ‘Creative Writings’ have paved the paths for the blooming buds. Like the previous issues such diversities of interests and areas have been amalgamated into this one as well, which, we think, is the USP of our publication.

Thespian, as we all know, entertains all sorts of writings on art, culture, language, be it academic or non-academic. But for academic reasons we are eyeing to be enlisted as UGC- approved journal and taking necessary steps for that.

Last but not the least, we will always be waiting for your valuable response, opinions and writings.

Abhijit Sen, Professor, Department of English, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India.
