    Samara Rehman

Samara Rehman is pursuing her PhD at the English Department of Delhi University under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Professor Anjana Sharma. Her research specialisations are Romantic visual and literary culture, art-history, and nineteenth century socio-political history. Her thesis examines how the maritime paintings of J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) depict the centrality of the marine world, seas, and oceans to the material and socio-political life of the British world. It bridges art history, literary studies, and maritime studies, offering new perspectives on Turner’s engagement with Britain’s nautical identity. She is currently writing a chapter on Turner’s shipwreck paintings for a forthcoming edited volume Blue Victorian. She has taught English as a Guest Lecturer for two years at the NCWEB, Delhi University from 2019-2021. She holds her Bachelors and Masters degree in English Literature from the Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University (2014-17, 2017-19). She welcomes scholarly dialogue and collaboration in her fields of interest.
